I approve of the use of duct tape.

You know, I’m pretty sure at least one of them—probably Clarkson—is a fan of the Red Green show. I just finished going through them all the way back to ‘91, and there’s quite a lot of things that look “borrowed” from RG by TG. More as I think of them, but off the top of my head:

-An obsession with old, cheap beaters

-An obsession with “upfitting” said beaters in ridiculous ways to achieve an end goal of doing something much cheaper—notable examples are the fire truck (the only emergency vehicle that TG didn’t do) and a forklift

-Removing car doors by driving into them with other cars

-Fixing everything with a hammer

-A tendency to bodge the bodge of the bodge rather than fix it properly

-The “sports in cars” thing started with TG’s car football. Except RG actually did it several months earlier. Granted TG did it for real instead of cutting stuff together.
